This standard applies to industrial systems and equipment operating in a specific electromagnetic environment and designed to perform safety functions in accordance with the definitions given in IEC 61508 with safety integrity levels (SIL) 1-3. Fire alarm and security alarm systems designed to protect buildings are excluded from the scope of this standard.
