This standard applies to devices for the protection of telecommunications networks and signaling under the direct or indirect impact of lightning or other transient overvoltages. The purpose of these arresters is to protect modern electronic equipment in telecommunications and signaling networks with system rated voltages up to 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC
