Instructions apply to the design and installation of lightning protection of newly constructed and reconstructed industrial, residential and public buildings and structures. Instructions do not apply to the design and installation of lightning protection of buildings and structures associated with the use, production or storage of explosives and objects with industry-specific features, the design of which is made according to special instructions. Lightning protection of power facilities: power plants, electrical substations and overhead power lines, as well as contact networks of electrified railways, radio and television antennas, telegraph, telephone and radio broadcasting lines should be carried out in accordance with the requirements of industry regulatory documents.

Указания не распространяются на проектирование и устройство молниезащиты зданий и сооружений, связанных с применением, производством или хранением взрывчатых веществ и объектов, имеющих узкоотраслевые особенности, проектирование которых производится по специальным указаниям. Молниезащита энергетических сооружений: электростанций, электрических подстанций и воздушных линий электропередачи, а также контактных сетей электрифицированных железных дорог, радио- и телевизионных антенн, телеграфных, телефонных и радиотрансляционных линий должна выполняться в соответствии с требованиями отраслевых нормативных документов, утвержденных в установленном порядке.
