The standard establishes the norms and methods for determining the design effort, as well as assessing the strength and stability from seismic effects for vessels, vehicles and tanks made of carbon and alloyed steels, nonferrous metals (aluminum, copper, titanium and their alloys) used in , oil and gas, heat and energy and related industries located on sites with a seismicity of 7, 8 and 9 points on the MSK-64 scale.

Стандарт устанавливает нормы и методы определения расчетных усилий, а также оценки прочности и устойчивости от сейсмических воздействий для сосудов, аппаратов и резервуаров из углеродистых и легированных сталей, цветных металлов (алюминия, меди, титана и их сплавов), применяемых в химической, нефтехимической, нефтеперерабатывающей, нефтегазовой, теплоэнергетической и смежных отраслях промышленности, расположенных на площадках с сейсмичностью 7, 8 и 9 баллов по шкале МSК-64.
