This standard establishes special requirements for the design, selection and installation of electrical installations with voltage up to and above 1 kV. The standard applies to all types of electrical equipment and electrical installations in hazardous areas: fixed, temporary, mobile, portable and manual. The standard does not apply to electrical installations that are installed: - in underground mines, hazardous for mine gas (methane); - in areas where danger is associated with the presence of combustible dust or fibers; - at facilities related to the production and processing of explosives; - in rooms used for medical purposes
