The standard establishes general requirements for the protection against corrosion of the outer surface of underground metal structures: pipelines and tanks (including trench type) made of carbon and low alloy steels, power cables up to 10 kV inclusive; communication cables and signaling in a metal sheath, steel structures of unattended amplification and regeneration points of communication lines, as well as requirements for objects that are sources of stray currents, including electrified rail transport, direct current transmission lines through the wire-to-earth system consuming direct current for technological purposes. The standard does not apply to the following facilities: communication cables with a protective cover of the hose type; reinforced concrete and cast iron structures; communications laid in tunnels, buildings and sewers; piles, grooves, columns and other similar metal structures; trunk pipelines transporting natural gas, oil, petroleum products, and bends from them; pipelines of compressor, pumping and pumping stations, oil depots and head facilities of oil and gas fields; gas and oil complex preparation plants; heat network pipelines with foam polyurethane thermal insulation and a rigid polyethylene sheathed pipe (pipe-in-pipe construction), which have a working system for prompt remote monitoring of the insulation status of pipelines; metal structures located in permafrost soils.
Стандарт устанавливает общие требования к защите от коррозии наружной поверхности подземных металлических сооружений: трубопроводов и резервуаров (в том числе траншейного типа) из углеродистых и низколегированных сталей, силовых кабелей напряжением до 10 кВ включительно; кабелей связи и сигнализации в металлической оболочке, стальных конструкций необслуживаемых усилительных и регенерационных пунктов линий связи, а также требования к объектам, являющимся источниками блуждающих токов, в том числе электрифицированому рельсовому транспорту, линиям передач постоянного тока по системе "провод-земля", промышленным предприятиям, потребляющим постоянный ток в технологических целях. Стандарт не распространяется на следующие сооружения: кабели связи с защитным покровом шлангового типа; железобетонные и чугунные сооружения; коммуникации, прокладываемые в туннелях, зданиях и коллекторах; сваи, шпунты, колонны и другие подобные металлические сооружения; магистральные трубопроводы,транспортирующие природный газ, нефть, нефтепродукты, и отводы от них; трубопроводы компрессорных, перекачивающих и насосных станций, нефтебаз и головных сооружений нефтегазопромыслов; установки комплексной подготовки газа и нефти; трубопроводы тепловых сетей с пеноополиретановой тепловой изоляцией и трубой-оболочкой из жесткого полиэтилена (конструкция ''труба в трубе"), имеющие действующую систему оперативного дистанционного контроля состоянияизоляции трубопроводов; металлические сооружения, расположенные в многолетнемерзлых грунтах.
