The standard establishes requirements for the design, testing and marking of electrical equipment of group II with the type of protection

Стандарт устанавливает требования к конструкции, испытаниям и маркировке электрооборудования группы II с видом взрывозащиты «n», предназначенного для применения во взрывоопасных газовых средах. Стандарт применяют к электрооборудованию, номинальное действующее значение напряжения переменного или постоянного тока которого не превышает 15 кВ. Стандарт применяют для обеспечения взрывозащиты не искрящего электрооборудования, а также электрооборудования, части или электрические цепи которого могут создавать электрические дуги или искры или имеют нагретые поверхности, которые без применения какого-либо из способов защиты, указанных в настоящем стандарте, могут вызвать воспламенение окружающей взрывоопасной газовой среды. Стандарт описывает несколько различных методов, с помощью которых должна быть обеспечена безопасность и которые могут быть использованы вместе с методами, описанными в IEC 60079-0.
