Mobile working platforms. Design calculations. Sustainability criteria. Security. Control and testing
Status: Applied in the EAEU
The standard establishes safety requirements and protective measures for all types and sizes of mobile lifting work platforms (MPRP), designed to move workers to workplaces where they perform work from the work platform, and work personnel enter the work platform and leave it only from the provisions ground level or chassis access. The standard is used in design calculations and stability criteria, safety checks and tests before putting the MPRP into operation. The standard identifies hazards arising from the use of the MPRP and describes how to eliminate or reduce these hazards. The standard does not address hazards arising from: operation in potentially explosive atmospheres; electromagnetic incompatibility; when working with live electrical systems; the use of compressed gases for load sensing components; climbing to the platform and leaving during a change in the working level; special use (e.g. railroad, gravel) covered by national regulations (rules). The standard does not apply to: permanently installed machines serving stairwells (see for example EN 81-1 and EN 81-2, EN 12159); fire and rescue devices (see for example EN 1777); work stands without rails suspended from hoisting devices (see, for example, EN 1808); lifting workstations of operators in warehouses on a rail track and auxiliary equipment (for example, see, for example, EN 528); forklifts (see for example, EN 1756-1 and EN 1756-2); mast work platforms (see, for example, EN 1495); exhibition equipment; lift tables (see e.g. EN 1570-1); ground-based aerodrome equipment (see, for example, EN 1915-1 and EN 1915-2); lifting workplaces on industrial trucks (see e.g. EN 1726-2)
