The standard establishes a method for determining the effect of soil and subsoil materials on seed germination and early stages of growth of higher plants. The final results are indicators useful for assessing soil quality as a habitat for organisms. The standard is applicable to all soils in which soil organisms are active, and can be used to assess the following factors:
