The standard applies to deactivated protective paint coatings up to 400 microns thick (single-layer and multi-layered) applied to metal substrates, and establishes a method for determining the adhesive strength of coatings with a normal separation, based on measuring the force required to detach coatings in the direction perpendicular to its surface
