The standard applies to salted herring of the following species: Azov-Black Sea (Don, Dnieper, Danube, Kerch) - Alosa pontica; Atlantic - Clupea harengus; White Sea - Clupea pallasil marisalbi; Caspian Puzanoque - Alosa caspia; Brazhnikovskaya - Alosa brashnikovi; Caspian Blackspot - Alosa kesseri kesseri; Pacific - Clupea pallasii.
Стандарт распространяется на соленые сельди следующих биологических видов: азово-черноморскую (донскую, днепровскую, дунайскую, керченскую) - Alosa pontica; атлантическую - Clupea harengus; беломорскую - Clupea pallasil marisalbi; каспийский пузанок - Alosa caspia; бражниковскую - Alosa brashnikovi; каспийскую черноспинку - Alosa kesseri kesseri; тихоокеанскую - Clupea pallasii.
