Стандарт распространяется на щебень из изверженных горных пород со средней плотностью зерен более 2,4 г/см3, получаемый их дроблением и используемый для устройства балластного слоя железнодорожного пути в соответствии с действующими строительными нормами и правилами. Стандарт не распространятся на щебень, применяемый в качестве заполнителя для тяжелого бетона, а также для строительства автомобильных дорог и других видов строительных работ.
