Water. Method for determination of total mercury by flameless atomic absorption spectrometry
Status: Effective - Introduced for the first time. IUS 4-2013
This standard applies to drinking, natural (surface and underground) and wastewater and establishes a flameless atomic absorption method for determining the mass concentration of total mercury (cold vapor method) after oxidizing all present forms of mercury to a bivalent state during mineralization of the water sample being analyzed, recovery mercury (II) to metal, measuring the absorption of resonant radiation by atomic mercury vapor at a wavelength of 253.7 nm and the subsequent calculation of the mass concentration of total mercury. The standard establishes three methods for determining the total mercury content: 1 - determination of the total mercury content after mineralization with potassium dichromate. The method is used to analyze drinking and natural waters used in drinking water supply, with concentrations of total mercury from 0.1 to 5.0 μg
