Drinking water. Methods for determination of total mercury by flameless atomic absorption spectrometry
Status: Not effective - Canceled. Registration information 1909-st dated 12.12.2012 (official site of Rosstandart)
This standard applies to drinking and natural waters and establishes flameless atomic absorption methods for determining the mass concentration of total mercury. The methods are based on the oxidation of mercury during the mineralization of the analyzed water sample to a bivalent state, the reduction of all forms of mercury present to metal, the distillation of mercury vapor into a quartz cell by air or inert gas, the optical density of mercury vapor at a resonant wavelength of 253.7 nm and subsequent mass concentration of total mercury
