Стандарт распространяется на винтовые и безвинтовые зажимные элементы соединительных устройств, выполненных как заодно с прибором, так и встроенных в прибор (далее - зажимы), предназначенные для присоединения медных проводников без специальной подготовки (в соответствии с МЭК 228 [1]) жестких (одно- и многожильных) и/или гибких номинальным сечением от 0,2 до 35 мм2 включительно и эквивалентных проводников AWG на номинальное переменное напряжение до 1000 В частоты до 1000 Гц и постоянное напряжение до 1500 В. Стандарт не распространяется на зажимы для присоединения: - методом обжатия или пайки; - цифровых или сигнальных цепей; - зажимов с плоскими штыревыми соединителями (оконцевателями) по ГОСТ Р МЭК 61210; - зажимов, обеспечивающих прямой контакт с жилой проводника путем прокалывания изоляции, по ГОСТ Р 50043.4; - зажимов, требующих скручивания жил соединяемых проводников, например со скрученными стыками по ГОСТ Р МЭК 998-2-4.
