The standard establishes a method for determining the chemical stability of solidified radioactive waste and their simulators by leaching radionuclides and macrocomponents during prolonged contact with water and aqueous solutions. The standard is used to determine the chemical stability of solidified wastes and their simulators, the development of curing technologies, the qualitative assessment of measuring their properties during storage, to compare the results obtained in the study of samples in different laboratories and in various technological processes of curing. The standard does not apply to solidified wastes that are in long-term storage and burial in deep geological formations, since the method established by this standard does not take into account the geochemical and hydrological conditions of geological formations (pressure, speed and composition of groundwater) and is not suitable for quantitative assessments of the long-term stability of waste under actual disposal conditions.

Стандарт устанавливает метод определения химической устойчивости отвержденных радиоактивных отходов и их имитаторов посредством выщелачивания радионуклидов и макрокомпонентов при длительном контакте с водой и водными растворами. Стандарт применяется для определения химической устойчивости отвержденных отходов и их имитаторов, разработки технологий отверждения, качественной оценки измерения их свойств в процессе хранения, для сравнения результатов, полученных при исследовании образцов в различных лабораториях и при различных технологических процессах отверждения. Стандарт не распространяется на отвержденные отходы, находящиеся в условиях длительного хранения и захоронения в глубоких геологических формациях, так как метод, устанавливаемый данным стандартом, не учитывает геохимических и гидрологических условий геологических формаций (давление, скорость движения и состав грунтовой воды) и не пригоден для количественной оценки долговременной стабильности отходов, находящихся в реальных условиях захоронения.
