The standard establishes a reference data management model. The reference model defines general terminology and concepts related to information systems data. Such concepts are used to define the services provided by database management systems or data dictionary systems. The reference model does not consider protocols for data management. The scope of the reference model includes processes that concern the management of persistent data and their interaction with processes that differ from the requirements of a specific information system, as well as general data management services for defining, storing, searching, updating, entering, copying, restoring and transmitting data.
Стандарт устанавливает эталонную модель управления данными. Эталонная модель определяет общую терминологию и понятия, относящиеся к данным информационных систем. Такие понятия используются для определения услуг, предоставляемых системами управления базами данных или системами словарей данных. Эталонная модель не рассматривает протоколы для управления данными. Область применения эталонной модели включает процессы, которые касаются управления постоянными данными и их взаимодействия с процессами, отличающимися от требований конкретной информационной системы, а также общие услуги управления данными, для определения, хранения, поиска, обновления, ввода, копирования, восстановления и передачи данных.
