This standard establishes a method for detecting and determining the number of presumptive Escherichia coli bacteria by cultivation in liquid nutrient media and calculating the most likely number (NPV) after incubation at 37 ° C and 44 ° C. This standard is used in the study of products intended for human consumption and for feeding animals, as well as environmental samples in places of production and circulation of food
