The standard applies to isotropic, orthotropic, as well as unidirectionally reinforced polymer composites, and establishes requirements for methods for determining their mechanical properties under tension: tensile strength, elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio. Under this standard, isotropic polymer composites are thermo-plastics and thermoplastics reinforced with randomly arranged chopped fibers, including in the form of chopped strand mats and rovings. Under the orthotropic polymer composites in the standard refers to thermosets and thermoplastics, reinforced with fibers, fabrics of various structures, as well as their combinations, provided that in the process of manufacturing a composite material was provided orthogonal orientation of the fibers. Under the unidirectionally reinforced polymer composites in the standard refers to thermo-plastics and thermoplastics reinforced with unidirectional complex threads, rovings, tapes, fabrics, the fibers in which are oriented only in one direction.
Стандарт распространяется на изотропные, ортотропные, а также на однонаправленно армированные полимерные композиты, и устанавливает требования к методам определения их механических свойств при растяжении: предела прочности, модуля упругости, коэффициента Пуассона. Под изотропными полимерными композитами в данном стандарте понимаются реактопласты и термопласты, армированные хаотически расположенными рублеными волокнами, в том числе в виде матов из рубленых нитей и ровингов. Под ортотропными полимерными композитами в стандарте понимаются реактопласты и термопласты, армированные волокнами, тканями различных структур, а также их комбинациями при условии, что в процессе изготовления композитного материала была обеспечена ортогональная ориентация волокон. Под однонаправленно армированными полимерными композитами в стандарте понимаются реактопласты и термопласты армированные однонаправленными комплексными нитями, ровингами, лентами, тканями, волокна в которых ориентированы только в одном направлении
