The standard establishes the general safety requirements for electrical equipment, including embedded computing devices used in professional activities in the industrial and educational sectors. The standard does not apply to equipment that falls under the scope of the following standards: GOST IEC 60065 on the safety of audio, video and similar electronic equipment; on the safety of electrical equipment of machines and mechanisms according to the standards of the states referred to in the preface as voting for the adoption of the standard (standards of the states); GOST IEC 60335-1 for the safety of household and similar electrical appliances; GOST 30331.1—95, GOST 30331.3—95, GOST 30331.4—95, GOST 30331.5—95, GOST 30331.6—95, GOST 30331.7—95, GOST 30331.8—95, GOST 30331.9—95 on electrical installations in buildings; GOST 28668–90 for complete low-voltage distribution and control devices; GOST 6570-96 for electric meters of active and reactive energy of alternating current; GOST 30324.0–95 for medical electrical products; GOST IEC 60950-1 for the safety of information technology equipment (including electrical equipment for business, except as specified in 1.1.3); State standards for power transformers, power supplies and similar products. The standard applies only to those computers, processors, etc., which are part of the equipment related to the scope of the standard, or are designed exclusively for use with this equipment.
