Low-voltage switchgear and control gear. Part 4. Contactors and motor-starters. Section 1. Electromechanical contactors and motor-starters
Status: Effective
This standard applies to devices of all kinds, the main contacts of which are supposed to be connected to circuits with a nominal voltage not higher than 1000 V AC or 1500 V DC. The contactors and starters specified in the standard are not intended to disconnect short-circuit currents. Therefore, appropriate protection against short circuits must be carried out by part of the installation, but not necessarily by a contactor or starter.
