The standard applies to information technology equipment, including electrical office equipment and related equipment, the rated voltage of which does not exceed 600 V. The standard establishes requirements that ensure the safety of the operator and non-expert who may have contact with the equipment, as well as, if this is specifically stated, service personnel. The purpose of this standard is to ensure the safety of the installed equipment, regardless of whether it is a system of interconnected or independent devices to be installed, operated and maintained in the mode prescribed by the manufacturer.
Стандарт распространяется на оборудование информационной технологии, включая электрическое конторское оборудование и связанное с ним оборудование, номинальное напряжение которого не превышает 600 В. Стандарт устанавливает требования, обеспечивающие безопасность оператора и неспециалиста, который может иметь контакт с оборудованием, а также, если это особо оговорено, обслуживающего персонала. Целью настоящего стандарта является обеспечение безопасности устанавливаемого оборудования независимо от того, будет ли оно представлять собой систему взаимосвязанных или независимых устройств, которые надлежит установить, эксплуатировать и обслуживать в режиме, предписанном изготовителем.
