This standard applies to electronic equipment designed to be powered from a network, network devices, batteries or remote power sources and intended to receive, generate, record or play audio, video and other similar signals respectively. The standard also applies to equipment designed for use only in conjunction with the above equipment. The standard establishes only the safety requirements of the above equipment and does not establish other requirements, such as requirements for design or operational characteristics. This standard mainly applies to equipment intended for domestic or similar use, but which can also be used in crowded places, such as schools, theaters, places of pilgrimage and production facilities. The professional equipment intended for use as stated above is also subject to the requirements of this standard until it is subject to the specific requirements of other standards. This standard applies to the above equipment intended for connection to a telecommunication network or similar networks, for example using an integrated modem.
